WORKERS' COMPENSATION RESOURCES

RESEARCH REPORT

Research and Public Policy for the Workers' Disability Income System

May 21, 2011

Dear Workers’ Compensation Aficionado:

The Workers’ Compensation Policy Review was discontinued in 2008 because I wanted to devote my time to several other important projects.  I am now pleased to inform you that I have started a more modest publication project, which will produce several issues each year of the Workers’ Compensation Resources Research Report (WCRRR).

Each issue of the WCRRR will focus on a single topic and present data not readily available elsewhere that will be valuable for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers interested in workers’ compensation.

Issue One of the WCRRR, published in September 2010, presented an article entitled “Workers’ Compensation Insurance Industry Remains Profitable in 2009.”  The article relied on A. M. Best data that indicated the workers’ compensation insurance industry’s profitability declined in 2009, but nonetheless the industry remained profitable for the seventh year in a row.  To download Issue One without charge click here.

Issue Two of the WCRRR, just published, examines the employers’ costs of workers’ compensation based on the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Workers’ compensation costs for private sector employers declined in 2010 for the fifth year in a row.  To read a Summary of the Contents of Issue Two, click here.  The obtain a Form that allows you to order Issue Two by fax, e-mail, or mail, click here.  You can receive your issue as a PDF file (sent as an e-mail attachment) or as a printed copy on 3-hole punched paper (sent by first-class mail).  If you would like to receive notice of subsequent issues of the WCRRR, please return the form with your contact information.

Sincerely yours,

John F. Burton, Jr.
